Barangay Ginebra has replaced Riley Grigsby with Jordan Murphy as its import for the remainder of the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup.
Ginebra head coach Tim Cone told reporters that Murphy’s inside-outside game could complement the team’s trademark triangle offense.
“He’s purported to be more of inside/outside operator which should fit our triangle,” Cone said. “We’ll know more when we get him into practice over the next several days.”
The 6-foot-6 Murphy played college basketball at the University of Minnesota, where he was known for his rebounding and production skills.
In the 2019 NBA Draft, Murphy went undrafted before continuing his career in overseas leagues and the NBA G League.
Murphy joins Ginebra as resident import Justin Brownlee remains sidelined while recovering from multiple injuries. The Gin Kings are seeking to defend their Governors’ Cup championship.
