After 8,570 days since his WWE debut, John Cena has announced his retirement from the wrestling scene.
Over the course of his illustrious career, Cena has won 17 world titles and popularized the unforgettable "You Can't See Me" catchphrase. However, his legacy goes beyond just championships and catchphrases.
Making his debut in 2002, Cena’s wrestling persona has undergone significant transformations—from his early days as a brash, "ruthless aggression"-focused rookie to his time as the "Doctor of Thuganomics" rapper, and later evolving into the beloved figure with the empowering "Never Give Up" mantra.
In an interview, Cena revealed that the physical toll of the sport had taken a major toll on his body.
Having undergone multiple surgeries, including procedures on his neck, pectorals, and triceps, Cena expressed that his body is "screaming" for him to move on, stating that it’s time to "close the chapter" on his wrestling career.
The wrestler’s final match was held at 1:00 GMT on Sunday, Dec. 14, at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event.
