Filipino model and influencer John Eriq Bonifacio made history after winning the Philippines’ first-ever Mister Cosmopolitan title at the pageant’s fourth edition in Nha Trang, Vietnam, on Saturday, September 12.
Bonifacio bested 19 other contestants to claim the crown. He also earned the Best Physique and Best Catwalk awards during the preliminary competition.
During the question-and-answer portion, Bonifacio was asked what having a noble heart means to him and how a gentleman can demonstrate it through his actions.
“For me, (a) gentleman with a noble heart is not defined by how he (dresses) or looks, but rather how he (treats) people with respect,” Bonifacio said.
He added that he learned the value of respect from his late father, emphasizing that everyone deserves respect regardless of their background, social status, or gender.
Following his historic victory, Bonifacio shared a message of gratitude to his supporters.
“We did it, guys. Mabuhay, Philippines. Para sa inyo ito,” he said.
Bonifacio succeeds Taiwan’s Shawn Lin, who won the title in last year’s competition in Thailand. Last year, Filipino representative Kenneth Marcelino finished as first runner-up.
