Senator Jinggoy Estrada reportedly fell while bathing in the prison bathroom Wednesday morning at the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas.

According to a source, Estrada was getting ready for his scheduled knee x-ray procedure at 1:00 p.m. at the Cardinal Santos Hospital when he fell, reported RH 5 Val Gonzales.

Senator Estrada’s knee supposedly made a popping or snapping sound while in the bathroom. He fell, reportedly unable to bear the extreme pain.

On Monday, it was reported that Estrada’s motion for a temporary jail leave was approved by the Sandiganbayan 5th Division.

Prior to his incarceration, the senator had been diagnosed with osteoarthritis and was already suffering from joint effusion.

Due to his “emergency situation,” Estrada’s 2:00 p.m. x-ray schedule was moved up.

His doctors are expected to issue a statement today.
