Former Dasmariñas Mayor Jennifer "Jenny" Austria-Barzaga formally assumed office as the new representative of Cavite’s 4th District after taking her oath at the House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 1.

Barzaga’s oath-taking followed her decisive victory in the special election held on Saturday, August 29, where she secured 201,893 votes, equivalent to 45.12% of the 258,361 ballots cast.

She succeeds her son, Kiko Barzaga, who was expelled from the House of Representatives in June over disruptive and unparliamentary behavior.

With her assumption of office, Jenny Barzaga now begins her tenure representing Cavite’s 4th District in the House following the special election conducted to fill the congressional seat.
