Jamie Malonzo is returning to Japan’s B.LEAGUE after signing with Earthfriends Tokyo Z, the club announced, marking a new chapter for the Filipino forward following his previous stint with the Kyoto Hannaryz during the 2025–26 season.
Malonzo expressed enthusiasm about joining his new team, calling the move a significant step in his professional career.
“I’m incredibly blessed and grateful to begin this new chapter of my journey with Earthfriends Tokyo Z,” Malonzo said. “It’s an honor to join a club with such passionate fans and a strong vision for the future.”
The 6-foot-7 wing added that he is eager to integrate with the team and contribute on both ends of the floor.
“I’m excited to get to Tokyo, meet my teammates, coaches, and everyone who supports this organization,” he said. “I can’t wait to compete at the highest level, give everything I have every single day, and do my part to help bring success to the team.”
Earthfriends Tokyo Z management welcomed Malonzo’s arrival, highlighting his versatility and international experience as key assets for the club.
General manager Iida described Malonzo as a dynamic wing capable of impacting the game on offense and defense through his size, athleticism, outside shooting, and transition play.
“His experience competing on the world stage as a member of the Philippine national team and his experience in B1 last season will bring new energy and competitiveness to Tokyo Z,” Iida said.
The team believes Malonzo’s playing style aligns with its philosophy of fast, aggressive basketball.
“His high athleticism and determination to win will represent a new style for Tokyo Z,” Iida added. “Jamie’s addition is not just a reinforcement of our roster, but a big step for the club to move to a new stage.”
Malonzo previously suited up for Kyoto in Japan’s top division and has been a key figure for the Philippine national team, bringing international experience to his new squad.
