The Chicago Bulls waived guard Jaden Ivey on Monday for conduct detrimental to the team, hours after he posted social media videos that included anti-gay remarks and religious commentary, according to reports from Shams Charania.
In one livestream, Ivey criticized the NBA’s support for Pride Month, calling it a promotion of “unrighteousness.” He later questioned the team’s decision to release him, asking why the Bulls did not directly address his stance.
The 24-year-old guard had recently increased his activity on Instagram, posting multiple lengthy videos over the past week. His release comes shortly after the team ruled him out for the rest of the season due to a sore left knee.
Acquired from the Detroit Pistons before the trade deadline, Ivey appeared in just four games for Chicago and last played on February 11. Injuries have limited him to 30 games in the 2024–25 season and delayed his debut this year.
Bulls head coach Billy Donovan said the organization maintains high standards of professionalism and respect, emphasizing accountability within the team.
Ivey, the No. 5 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, is now set to enter free agency this offseason. He is the son of Niele Ivey, the head coach of Notre Dame’s women’s basketball program.
