Manila City Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno Domagoso on Monday launched YorMilk 2.0: Kaagapay ng Batang Maynila sa Paglaki, significantly expanding the city's milk feeding program from more than 21,000 beneficiaries during its initial rollout to 60,000 public school students.
The program was formally launched on June 29 at Dr. Alejandro Albert Elementary School in Sampaloc as part of the city government's continuing efforts to address child malnutrition and stunting among young learners.
According to the Manila City government, YorMilk 2.0 provides continuous milk supplementation for children as they progress from daycare to kindergarten and Grade 1, helping ensure sustained nutritional support during their early years.
The initiative also strengthens support for local dairy farmers by sourcing milk directly from them, creating a stable market for their products while supplying nutritious milk to public school students.
The National Dairy Authority (NDA) welcomed the expansion, noting that the number of beneficiaries has nearly tripled following the success of the program's first implementation. The agency also highlighted the program's dual impact of improving child nutrition while providing livelihood opportunities for local dairy producers.
Officials said the partnership between the Manila City government and the NDA has enabled locally produced milk to reach thousands of schoolchildren instead of going unsold after government feeding programs conclude.
The expanded YorMilk 2.0 program forms part of Manila's broader campaign to improve children's health, reduce malnutrition, and promote food security while supporting the country's dairy industry through sustainable local procurement.
