Water spilling from Ipo Dam will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday, August 28, as the dam’s water level continues to rise due to the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

The initial operation will involve opening Radial Gate A by 15 centimeters, which is expected to release approximately 35 cubic meters per second (cms) of water.

“Ipo Dam will commence spilling at 9:00 PM today, 28 August 2026,” the OCD said in its Ipo Dam Spilling Advisory issued Friday.

The OCD said concerned local government units in Angat, Bustos, San Rafael, Baliwag, Plaridel, Pulilan, Calumpit, Paombong, Hagonoy, the City of Malolos, and the Province of Bulacan have been informed to undertake appropriate actions and preparedness measures.

Residents, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas, were urged to remain alert and take necessary precautions as water is released from the dam.

The public was also advised to closely monitor official updates and follow instructions from local authorities as weather conditions continue to affect water levels in the area.

The advisory was issued by OCD Assistant Secretary Bernardo Alejandro IV on behalf of the Ipo Dam Management for information, guidance, and appropriate action.
