Veteran lawyer and television host Atty. Jose "Papa Ping" Sison has died at the age of 88 on Thursday, July 23, his son, Atty. Jopet Sison, confirmed.

In a Facebook post, Jopet announced his father's passing and asked the public to remember him in their prayers.

"We are comforted that he lived a full life as a lawyer, a husband to Josie, a father to his six children, and a grandfather to his sixteen grandchildren," Jopet, wrote in a Facebook post.

"Please keep him in your prayers and remember him with love and fond memories," he added.

Jose Sison became a household name as the longtime host and legal adviser of the television program, legal and crime show "Ipaglaban Mo!," which first aired in 1988. The legal drama anthology featured dramatizations of real court cases and aimed to educate viewers on Philippine laws by explaining the legal issues behind each featured story.

Widely regarded as one of the country's most recognizable television lawyers, Sison was known for his signature line, "Kung may katuwiran, ipaglaban mo."

He continued hosting the program alongside his son, Atty. Jopet Sison, who later joined the show as co-host. The series featured cases based on decisions of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals.

The wake will begin on Friday afternoon, July 24, at the Ascension Chapel of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Cubao in Quezon City.

The interment will be at the Heavens Gate 1 Memorial Park in Antipolo City, on Tuesday, July 28.
