In an interview on Hoy Bawal Yan!, Bea Bernardo, Public Information Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), underscored the agency’s critical role in ensuring passenger safety amid the surge in travel demand this season. The agency said it is responsible for regulating all aspects of civil aviation transport to guarantee safe and efficient air travel.
As the country’s aviation regulator, CAAP implements safety standards aligned with global practices and those set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). It aims to ensure the safety and efficiency of civil aviation nationwide.
To enforce compliance, CAAP conducts examinations, audits, surveillance, and inspections of airlines, pilots, and other stakeholders. It also ensures that individuals without valid licenses and certifications are not allowed to fly, reinforcing strict adherence to safety protocols.
The agency likewise carries out regular inspections of aircraft and airport infrastructure, including runways, to ensure comprehensive operational safety.
CAAP warned that violations of aviation regulations may lead to penalties, including possible suspension of operations for repeated offenses, affirming its commitment to safeguarding passengers throughout their travel.
