There will be no impeachment trial on Wednesday, September 9, as the Senate impeachment court makes way for the marking of exhibits for the next article of impeachment.
Presiding Officer Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero announced the decision on Tuesday, September 8, following the prosecution’s request for time to prepare and mark its exhibits for Article II, which concerns Vice President Sara Duterte’s alleged unexplained wealth.
The prosecution also waived its 15 remaining witnesses for Article I, effectively ending its presentation of evidence on the allegations involving the misuse and misappropriation of confidential funds.
The trial is expected to resume after the exhibit-marking process, with the impeachment court set to proceed to the next article against Duterte.
