Senator Imee Marcos issued a statement backing Vice President Sara Duterte’s bid for presidency in the 2028 elections, emphasizing that Duterte has her father’s courage and empathy, and ultimately, the solution to the nation’s problems.

“Taglay niya ang tapang at malasakit ng kanyang ama habang bitbit ang karanasan sa pagtulong sa maralita, mga nangangailangan at pinagmalupitan. Siya ang may solusyon,” Marcos wrote.

She argued that the Vice President merely formalized her supporters’ wishes.

“Itinaga lamang niya sa bato ang hiling at panawagan ng kanyang mga tagasuporta, kinumpirma rin niya ang takot ng kanyang mga kalaban,” the lawmaker declared.

Senator Marcos added that Duterte embodied everything the present administration could not be, confident that she will be able to give the country direction.

“Siya ang katauhan ng kabaligtaran ng administrasyong ito, siya ang magbibigay ng direksyon sa kawalang patutunguhan ng bansa,” she said.

On Wednesday, Vice President Duterte announced during a press conference that she would run for president in the 2028 elections.

“Mga kababayan, ibalik natin ang tapang at malasakit para sa Diyos, sa bayan, at para sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino. Ako si Sara Duterte. Tatakbo bilang pangulo ng Pilipinas,” she said.
