A security guard shot an employee working in the fish section of a mall in the Mandurriao district, Iloilo, according to a Monday report by Jocelyn Maque of Aksyon Radyo Iloilo.

A Festive Walk mall attendant reported that after hearing a gunshot, mall-goers scattered in a panic, trying to reach the mall’s exit.

In an investigation, police found that the suspect, alias “Joseph,” had helped the victim, alias “Jomai,” and his companion, to throw the trash behind the mall. The suspect allegedly heard the victim and his companion talking about a posted notice prohibiting employees from loitering by the garbage bins.

Believing the victim was talking about him, the guard spoke to him in the employees’ locker room. The employee returned to his station, where he pressed the guard to tell him what he had a problem with. The suspect then pulled out his gun and fired at the victim.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, and the suspect was apprehended by authorities.
