The high-fashion sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada” reintroduces icons Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci’s return to the world of Runway Magazine.
20th Century Studios released the official trailer on Monday, February 2, which follows the four characters almost 20 years after the 2006 phenomenon. Andy Sachs (Hathaway) officially makes her way back to Runway Magazine, not as an editorial assistant— but as its new features editor.
According to a report by Variety, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” follows Miranda Priestly (Streep), Runway Magazine’s editor-in-chief, dealing with the decline of print journalism and her attempts to find her footing in a dying industry.
Emily Charlton (Blunt), who was Priestly’s former assistant, is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising money. One that Priestly desperately needs.
The film reunites the original ensemble alongside Director David Frankel and Writer Brosch McKenna. Adrian Grenier, who played Sach’s boyfriend Nate, will not be returning for the sequel.
However, an all-new lineup of characters will be introduced throughout the film.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is produced by Wendy Finerman and executive produced by Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and Aline Brosh McKenna.
Its international release is scheduled for May 1 this year. However, it will be released in Philippine cinemas on April 29.
