The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) has turned over to the Office of the Ombudsman the luxury vehicles surrendered by former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan Assistant Engineer Brice Hernandez.
Among the vehicles is a ₱12-million GMC Yukon Denali and a ₱30-million to ₱40-million Lamborghini. Both vehicles were driven to the Ombudsman’s office, reported RH 15 Jecelle Ricafort on Tuesday.
The turnover was led by ICI Executive Director Atty. Brian Hosaka at the independent probe body’s office in Taguig City. He said that the ball is now in the Ombudsman’s court, as he will decide the next steps concerning the vehicles, which may be considered restitution.
Hernandez is currently behind bars at the New Quezon City Jail for graft and malversation charges in connection with the ghost flood control project in Bulacan worth ₱92.8 million.
The commission ceased operations related to flood control anomaly probes at the end of March.
