The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) requested the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) to provide them with documents of contractors allegedly involved in infrastructure project anomalies, it announced on Thursday.

“The commission requested from the AMLC documents pertaining to several construction companies that were allegedly involved in these infrastructure projects, the details of which I am constrained not to share with you right now because of confidentiality,” said ICI Executive Director Atty. Brian Hosaka in a press conference.

Hosaka announced that December 15 will be the last day of the independent probe body’s hearings—the same day Commissioner Rogelio “Babes” Singson’s resignation takes effect. The ICI will decide by then if additional hearings need to be conducted, whether a replacement for Singson has been found or not, reported RH 15 Jecelle Ricafort.

Hosaka assured, however, that investigations and case build-up will continue. He stressed that the commission’s work, alongside other agencies, remains urgent.

“We will continue, the commission will continue with its hearing and investigation—hearing in particular, up to December 15. But this is subject to confirmation by the resource persons that will be invited. Nevertheless, the commission will continue with its case build-up, except that the fact that the hearings will not continue in the meantime,” said Hosaka.

Under Executive Order No. 94, the ICI will remain until it fulfills its mandate or it is dismantled by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
