The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) has issued a new subpoena to former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co after he failed to appear at a previous hearing regarding alleged anomalies in several flood control projects.

During a press briefing held in Taguig City, ICI Executive Director Atty. Brian Hosaka confirmed that the commission has sent another subpoena to Co’s residences in both Pasig City and Bicol.

"Went a new subpoena to him addressed to his Pasig residence and the one in Bicol. We’re just awaiting the reports coming from the ones who will serve this," Hosaka said.

"Once we receive this from them, then we will study the matter kung ano yung magiging next action o steps ng ICI," he added.

According to the ICI, Co is required to appear before the commission on November 11 and 12 at 9:00 a.m. Should he fail to attend again, Hosaka said the commission will consider seeking the court’s assistance to hold Co in contempt.

Authorities earlier reported that Co is currently out of the country, allegedly undergoing treatment for a heart condition. He was a no-show during the ICI’s October 14 session, where he was summoned alongside former House Speaker and Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez. Reports indicate that Co is presently in Spain.

The ICI’s ongoing investigation focuses on alleged corruption and fund misuse in the implementation of flood control projects across several regions. Both Co and Romualdez have been accused of benefiting financially from these infrastructure projects, though neither has publicly addressed the allegations in detail.

As of now, there is no confirmed schedule for when Romualdez will next appear before the commission.
