Investigations by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) will be livestreamed starting next week, ICI Chairman Andres Reyes Jr. announced Wednesday.

In the hearings of the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights, Reyes announced that they plan to begin livestreaming next week, as soon as the required technical capabilities are in place.

“So again, I repeat we will be doing [a] livestream next week,” the chairman stated.

He also explained that the commission is still in its early stages, having been established only 39 days ago. For the first 21 days, it operated with just three lawyers. Recently, volunteers from the office and agencies have joined to support the effort, he said.

Despite limited facilities and the absence of formal rules of procedure, Reyes said they are committed to pushing forward with a full-scale investigation into the reported fraud cases, which they intend to fast-track even without established rules of procedure.

Meanwhile, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan welcomed the idea of livestreaming the ICI’s proceedings.

Pangilinan emphasized that the public wants transparency, expressing their desire to know the facts surrounding the cases and to be regularly updated on the developments and progress of the ongoing investigations.

“The livestreaming of the proceedings will definitely address this concern of the public,” he said, assuring that the move would help keep citizens informed.
