The International Criminal Court (ICC) has renewed its call for witnesses in its investigation into alleged crimes committed during former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, launching a public microsite where individuals can securely submit information.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, January 15, the ICC’s Office of the Prosecutor said it is investigating allegations of crimes against humanity in the Philippines, including killings, torture, and sexual violence, allegedly committed as part of the anti-drug campaign between November 2011 and March 2019.

“The Office is appealing for direct witnesses to these incidents, including members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other law enforcement agencies who were involved in these incidents, to come forward and speak with members of the Office,” the ICC said.

The ICC added that information may be submitted securely through the microsite (https://bit.ly/49IfCBj), and noted that the call for witnesses has been posted in English, Tagalog, and Visayan to reach a wider audience.

As of writing, the camp of former president Rodrigo Duterte has not released a statement in response to the ICC’s renewed appeal.

Earlier, Duterte’s camp submitted a 12-page joint medical and legal report to the ICC seeking his interim release from detention, citing his deteriorating health and cognitive condition as grounds for the request.
