The International Criminal Court’s (ICC) Trial Chamber III has canceled the status conference scheduled for July 14 in the crimes against humanity case against former President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a statement, the court said the chamber decided to cancel the proceeding after parties and participants indicated there were no specific matters requiring attention at this stage of the case.
“The Chamber decided as such in light of the parties and participants indicating that they do not have specific matters which require attention at this stage of the proceedings,” the ICC said.
The court said the next status conference remains set for September 16, while the trial is scheduled to begin on November 30.
Duterte is facing allegations of crimes against humanity in connection with his administration’s anti-drug campaign, which has drawn international scrutiny over thousands of reported deaths.
