IATF OKs 10% dine-in, 30% salon capacities under MECQ

The Philippine government has allowed the resumption of indoor dine-in services to at least 10% capacity, while personal care services such as salons and barbershops can reopen at 30% capacity, Malacañang announced Thursday.

In a statement, presidential spokesman Harry Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases approved recommendations to allow restaurants, eateries, and other food preparation establishments to resume dine-in services in areas under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

The previous rule only allowed outdoor or al fresco dining, along with takeout and delivery.

Roque added that the IATF also allowed beauty salons, beauty parlors, barbershops, and nail spas to reopen to at least 30 percent capacity. However, they can only provide services that will let customers continue wearing their face masks at all times.

The spokesman said establishments offering dine-in services and personal care services might operate beyond the said limitations provided they comply with the Safety Seal Certification Program.

On Wednesday, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that Metro Manila and its surrounding provinces Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna – collectively known as ‘NCR Plus’ – will remain under MECQ until May 14, 2021.

The City of Santiago and Quirino, and Abra will also be under MECQ from May 1 to May 31, 2021.
