The ridge of a High Pressure Area (HPA) is extending over Northern and Central Luzon on Sunday, April 5, bringing generally fair, dry, and warm weather, according to PAGASA.
An HPA is an elongated region of high atmospheric pressure extending from an anticyclone, which typically results in clear skies and higher temperatures.
PAGASA warned that dangerous heat levels may be experienced in several parts of the country. Dumangas, Iloilo is expected to record the highest heat index at 42°C.
Other areas may experience heat indices of up to 41°C, including San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; CBSUA-Pili in Camarines Sur; La Granja in La Carlota, Negros Occidental; and Butuan City in Agusan del Sur.
Meanwhile, areas such as Cuyo in Palawan; Iloilo City; Catarman in Northern Samar; Guiuan in Eastern Samar; Davao City; and Cotabato City may experience heat indices reaching 40°C.
Despite generally fair weather, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may still experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA added that no low pressure area is currently being monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation.
Authorities continue to remind the public to take precautions against extreme heat, including staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activities during peak hours.
