In an interview on the program Scenezone, singer-songwriter Lil Vinceyy, also known as Titan Gelo of Love Radio Manila, reflected on the life-changing success of his viral hit “Chinita Girl,” which became the first OPM song to reach No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Viral Songs chart.

Despite the song’s massive success, Lil Vinceyy admitted that he never imagined it would have such a huge impact, as he recalled hearing the song being played in public while still largely unknown to listeners.

He shared, “Nasa jeep ako noon, nakasabit. Naaalala ko, tumutugtog ang ‘Chinita Girl,’ tapos hindi naman ako kilala.”

“Until now, to be honest, hindi ko naiisip na nangyari po ’yon sa buhay ko, na meron na po palang ganoon kalaking stream ang ‘Chinita Girl,’ at siya po ang nagpabago ng buhay ko,” he added.

The artist also shared that he originally wrote “Chinita Girl” in 2016 but kept it unreleased for years, reinforcing his belief that no one can truly predict which songs will become hits and that timing plays a crucial role in a track’s success.

According to Lil Vinceyy, “2016 ko siya ginawa, tapos nakatago lang ’yan, 'yung song na ’yan. Ayaw ko pa ilabas… nasa USB lang po ’yan.”

“Tapos, parang tine-testing ni Sir Vehnee ang mga kanta ko, at sinabi niya sa akin, ‘Potential 'yung kanta mo dito. Ano 'yung title nito? Chinita Girl?’ Sabi ko, ayaw ko po ’yan ilabas dahil tingin ko, yung iba kong kanta ang magti-trend. Pero sabi niya, ‘Hindi, okay ito. Ilabas natin ito,’” he added.

Looking back on his journey, the musician and DJ encouraged aspiring artists to keep creating and stay consistent, emphasizing that passion for music should always come first.
