The House of Representatives of the Philippines is set to convene a joint hearing of 13 committees on Wednesday to address the country’s worsening oil price crisis driven by ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

The hearing, directed by House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy, aims to identify both immediate and long-term measures to mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs on consumers and key industries.

Leading the inquiry is Rep. Miro Quimbo, chair of the House Committee on Ways and Means, who emphasized the need to gather critical data to guide policy decisions amid the ongoing crisis.

Cabinet members under President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr., along with officials from various government agencies, are expected to attend.

Lawmakers are seeking coordinated government responses to cushion the economic impact of soaring petroleum prices, which have been exacerbated by geopolitical instability abroad.
