The House of Representatives respects the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision to uphold its ruling to void the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III stated.
In a statement released on Thursday, January 28, the House Speaker said, “Ang impeachment ay isang prosesong malinaw na itinakda ng Konstitusyon at may tiyak na pamantayan.”
He added, “Mahalaga po ang pag-iingat sa proseso ng impeachment—isang pananagutang kaakibat ng mandato na ipinagkatiwala sa atin ng sambayanang Pilipino.”
Meanwhile, Manila 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua echoed the statement, adding that he would discuss with fellow House members the revision of the Rules on Impeachment. RH Milky Rigonan reported that Chua mentioned they would try to get the Makabayan bloc’s input, as the group would serve as the complainants and endorse a new impeachment complaint against Duterte.
Moreover, it is possible that the composition of the 11-man prosecution panel formed during the 19th Congress would be changed, as some of its members are no longer in Congress, such as former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Jill Bongalon and the late Antipolo Rep. Romeo Acop.
According to Rigonan, it was reported that the prosecution panel planned to include Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima and Akbayan Party-list Rep. Chel Diokno.
The statement comes after the SC En Banc denied the House of Representatives’ motion for reconsideration on the Articles of Impeachment against the Vice President, upholding the unanimous vote conducted on July 25, 2025.
