The House prosecution panel on Tuesday, July 7, said the public is more interested in the evidence and answers from Vice President Sara Duterte rather than updates on her personal circumstances as her impeachment trial continues.

During a press conference, House prosecution panel Spokesperson and Kabataan Party-list Rep. Renee Co emphasized that the proceedings should focus on addressing the allegations against Duterte and the evidence that will be presented before the Senate impeachment court.

“The public is not interested in the status of the lady. The public is interested in evidence. The public is interested in her answers to the long-standing questions, two years nang tinatanong ng taong-bayan,” Co said.

Co said the House prosecution panel is prepared to defend the impeachment articles and urged Duterte to face the proceedings and respond to the allegations.

“Sana po, at inaasahan din natin na andito po si VP Sara Duterte para po sagutin ang mga tanong na ito, humarap sa paglilitis,” she added.

The prosecution spokesperson stressed that the trial should not be reduced to public statements or updates but should center on the questions that have been raised over the past two years.

The House prosecution panel continues to present its case as the Senate impeachment court hears the charges against Vice President Duterte.
