The House prosecution team may call or issue a subpoena for Vice President Sara Duterte as the impeachment trial against her continues, according to House prosecutor Rep. Lorenz Defensor.
Speaking after the second day of proceedings, Defensor confirmed that the prosecution is considering requiring Duterte’s appearance before the Senate impeachment court.
"For now, I can confirm that we will call or subpoena the Vice President [Sara Duterte]," Defensor said.
He clarified that Duterte’s earlier visit to the Senate to meet with her defense team was unrelated to the possible subpoena, describing it as merely a coincidence.
"It’s only a matter of coincidence na naandito siya sa Senado [kaninang umaga]," he added.
The House prosecution panel continues to present evidence in support of the impeachment charges, while the defense team prepares its response before the Senate impeachment court.
