The House prosecution panel has finalized individual assignments as preparations intensify for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte following the Senate’s formal convening as an impeachment court.

House Justice Committee Chair Gerville Luistro, who leads the 11-member prosecution team, welcomed the Senate’s decision to convene but stressed that the trial itself should proceed “forthwith” or without delay.

Luistro assured the public that the prosecution panel is fully prepared to present the case against the vice president once the proceedings officially begin.

Under the prosecution team’s task distribution, House Senior Deputy Majority Leader Aurelio Gonzales Jr. will handle allegations involving threats and destabilization alongside Representatives Leila de Lima, Ysabel Maria Zamora, and Luistro.

The bribery allegations will be led by Joel Chua with Representatives Rodge Gutierrez, Kaka Bag-ao, and Zamora.

Meanwhile, allegations involving unexplained wealth will be handled by Rep. Terry Ridon together with Representatives Chel Diokno, Bag-ao, Gutierrez, Chua, De Lima, Lordan Suan, and Jonathan Keith Flores.

The confidential funds issue will be led by Luistro with representatives Lorenz Defensor, Gutierrez, Suan, Flores, Diokno, Ridon, De Lima, and Chua joining the team.

When asked about possible challenges during the impeachment proceedings, members of the House prosecution panel pointed to the spread of fake news and online troll activity as key concerns throughout the trial process
