The House of Representatives will be ratifying the ₱6.793 trillion 2026 General Appropriations Bill (GAB) and holding a memorial service in honor of the deceased Antipolo 2nd District Rep. Romeo Acop on Monday, December 29.

To give lawmakers and their staff more time to finalize the reconciled 2026 national budget, the ratification was moved from December 22 to the 29th, when the Congress is also set to transmit the document to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for signing.

According to House Majority Leader Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, the ratification of the GAB is required to ensure the proper implementation of the national budget for the new fiscal year and continued government operations, reported RH 12 Milky Rigonan.

Monday will begin however, with a memorial service for Acop, to be hosted at the plenary hall of Batasang Pambansa.

Furthermore, the House adopted Resolution 601, authored by House Speaker Faustino Dy III, Rep. Marcos, and House Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan to recognize the long years of public service Acop rendered before his passing.

Acop served as the senior vice chairperson of the House Quad Committee, which investigated the Duterte administration’s bloody War on Drugs.
