The House prosecution panel announced the first batch of private prosecutors who will assist in the upcoming impeachment proceedings of Vice President Sara Duterte, with nine lawyers volunteering to support the team.

During a press conference on Thursday, June 11, Prosecution Chairperson Rep. Gerville Luistro said the lawyers come from three law groups: four from the Philippine Center for Advocacy, Research and Development (PECABAR), four from the Kapunan and Castillo Law Offices, and one from the Sapayan Lim Alvares & Ligutan Law Firm.

Among those named included were:

• Atty. Erwin Matib

• Atty. Justine Anne Lamarca

• Atty. Lorna Kapunan

• Atty. Sonya Margarita Benemerito-Castillo

• Atty. Deanna Melissa Lorenzo-Singian

• Atty. Lino Chris Kapunan

• Atty. Bettina Zamora

Luistro said the lawyers have volunteered their services and will work alongside the House prosecution team in preparing and presenting the case.

She emphasized that their participation would bolster the panel’s legal capacity as it moves forward with the impeachment process.

The lower chamber is set to hold a pre-trial conference on June 18, 2026, at the Recto Room in Pasay City, where both the House prosecutors and the defense panel are expected to simplify issues, mark evidence, and identify witnesses.

The formal start of the impeachment trial at the Senate is scheduled for July 6, 2026.

Proceedings will continue on July 28, 2026, following the State of the Nation Address on July 27.
