The House Justice Committee has decided to proceed with a “mini impeachment trial” against Vice President Sara Duterte after finding the complaints lodged against her sufficient in substance due to Duterte’s “empty” Consolidated Verified Answer Ad Cautelam, which did nothing to explain her side, according to a report by RH 12 Milky Rigonan.
After a ten-day period for the submission of her formal response, the justice panel judged her answer to be lacking in substance and that they did not gain anything by it.
This prompted the panel to declare that the third and fourth impeachment complaints against Duterte were sufficient in grounds.
According to Committee Chair Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro, their inquiry will serve as a “mini trial,” with the committee to start gathering evidence and call on witnesses.
The full impeachment trial will begin on March 25 and continued on April 14, 22, and 29.
Meanwhile, Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez expressed dismay at the vice president’s legal team. Despite having a legal team of 16 lawyers, they were unable to directly address the allegations contained in the complaints.
