The House of Representatives has impeached Vice President Sara Duterte for the second time after lawmakers voted 255–26–9 in favor of adopting the Articles of Impeachment against her on Monday, May 11.

With 255 affirmative votes, 26 negative votes, and nine abstentions, the House adopted Committee Report No. 261 and House Resolution No. 989, which contain the formal articles of impeachment.

The vote comfortably exceeded the constitutional requirement that at least one-third of all House members—106 of the current membership—must support an impeachment to transmit it to the Senate.

Following the adoption, the articles of impeachment will be transmitted to the Senate, which is expected to convene as an impeachment court under the new Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.

The impeachment complaints against Duterte include allegations of misuse of confidential funds, unexplained wealth, and purported threats against President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his family.

The House Justice Committee earlier found probable cause in two of the complaints.

Lawmakers noted that Committee Report No. 261 consolidated the findings, conclusions, and recommendations that formed the basis of the impeachment articles now elevated to the Senate for trial.

This marks the second impeachment against Duterte. She was previously impeached in February 2025, but the Senate later archived the articles after the Supreme Court halted proceedings, citing violations of the one-year bar rule and concerns over due process.

The Senate will now determine whether to proceed with a full impeachment trial and whether to convict or acquit the vice president.
