The House of Representatives has voted to expel Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga following a decisive plenary vote of 265 in favor, 14 against, and 8 abstentions, based on the recommendation of the House Ethics Committee.

The committee, chaired by Representative JC Abalos of the 4Ps Party-list, cited repeated violations of proper decorum, disorderly behavior, and failure to comply with committee conditions as grounds for the expulsion.

In a statement, Abalos said the decision was not reached lightly, noting that Barzaga was given multiple opportunities to explain his actions before the committee recommended the sanction.

Barzaga was previously suspended twice—first in December 2025 for 60 days over alleged violations of decorum and controversial social media posts targeting fellow lawmakers, and again in February 2026 for another 60-day suspension after accusing several lawmakers of allegedly receiving bribes from billionaire businessman Enrique Razon.

Following his expulsion, Barzaga said he would no longer challenge the House decision and is considering taking time off.

“Depende muna yun. My statement for that would be regarding kung magkakaroon ba ng election, special elections, or kung magkakaroon ba na kung aakyat to sa Supreme Court. There's still many things to consider. But right now, mukhang magbabakasyon muna si Mingming,” Barzaga said in an interview after the vote.

The House leadership has yet to issue further comments on possible next steps, including whether a special election will be called to fill the vacated seat.
