The House of Representatives has approved the proposed ₱975.96 billion budget of the Department of Education (DepEd) and its attached agencies for fiscal year 2027.

The proposed allocation represents 13.55% of the ₱7.2-trillion national budget and includes increased funding for learning recovery, school-based feeding, teacher recruitment and promotion, and the construction and rehabilitation of classrooms.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the additional funding would help address school safety and security, mental health support, and other needs of students and teachers.

Angara also assured that the DepEd will ensure the funds are used properly, transparently, and effectively for the benefit of schools and learners.

The proposed DepEd budget will next undergo deliberations in the Senate.
