Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) Executive Director Brian Hosaka has dismissed Vice President Sara Duterte’s claim that the commission was formed to shape the government’s narrative on alleged anomalies in flood control projects.

“Hindi naman ‘yan tungkol sa any narrative. Our narrative is the evidence to be presented to us. Kung anong dokumento, anong ebidensya, anong testimony na makukuha namin na totoo, dun kami tutungo,” Hosaka said in response to Duterte’s remarks.

“‘Yun ang narrative namin. Hanapin kung sino mga may sala, paparusahan sila, kunin yung mga ninakaw na pera at ibalik sa tao,” he added.

Regarding the Vice President’s comments, Hosaka emphasized that the commission’s investigation would follow the evidence.

“Hindi naman siguro kasi ang commission nga kasi as I said will go where the evidence takes us regardless on sino man ang personalities involved. That's why siguro mas mabuti nga kung meron kayong mga impormasyon na alam about these anomalous projects to let us know,” he added.

The Vice President, on Saturday, questioned the creation of the ICI, suggesting it was intended primarily to promote the Marcos administration’s narrative on infrastructure projects.

“Paniwala ko, nile-legitimize nila ‘yung kwento na gusto nilang lumabas,” Duterte said, expressing skepticism about the ICI investigation.

“Nagbukas sila ng ICI para kung ano man yung report ng ICI, yun na yung official na kwento ng nangyaring korapsyon, at yun na yung ifefeed nila sa tao, at sasabihin nila na ito yung kwento at ito yung gagawin nating responsible,” she added.

The ICI, established under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. through Executive Order No. 94, is tasked with investigating irregularities in flood control and other government infrastructure projects over the past decade to determine accountability.

The commission’s work aims to ensure transparency and integrity in government projects, focusing on evidence-based findings rather than political motivations, according to Hosaka.
