Senator Risa Hontiveros said Tuesday that she is preparing to become the strongest presidential candidate that her political group could put forward in the 2028 elections.
In an interview on DZRH’s Damdaming Bayan, Hontiveros said she remains open to running for president and aims to become the strongest candidate her political camp could put forward.
“Hindi po nagbabago na naghahanda po ako para sa posibilidad na iyan [2028 Presidential bid] at naghahanda ako para harinawa maging pinakamalakas na kandidato na pwedeng i-push forward ng aming hanay para kung ganun ang mangyari kung sino ang pinakamalakas na kandidato mula sa aming hanay ay dapat magkaisa po kaming lahat,” Hontiveros said.
She stressed the importance of unity within her political camp, saying its members should rally behind whoever emerges as the strongest candidate to give them a better chance of winning the presidency and implementing their platform.
“Iisa lamang ang aming ihain sa ating mga kababayan at botante para may fighting chance na ipatupad ang plataporma ng gobyerno na karapat-dapat sa ating mga Pilipino,” she said.
Hontiveros said their goal is to pursue “better platforms and better governance” toward building a more orderly, democratic, prosperous, equal, and united country.
Asked whether she would continue pursuing a presidential bid if former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo decides to run, Hontiveros said the group should unite behind whoever is the strongest candidate.
“Kung sino sa amin lahat ang pinakamalakas, doon kami dapat magkaisa at lumaban at harinawa manalo,” Hontiveros said.
