An alleged “holdaper” or mugger in Davao City has been placed behind bars following a mugging incident.

In a report by DZRH’s Jhun Suter, the incident occurred in Barangay 76-A in the early morning hours of April 8.

The suspect is 28, unemployed, and a resident of Leon Garcia, Agdao in Davao City.

According to the victim, a 60-year-old’s account, he was walking towards Quimpo Boulevard when the suspect approached and demanded that he hand over his belongings.

Frightened, the older man gave the suspect his phone. However, seeing motorists nearby, he held onto the suspect and called for help.

Civilians rushed to the victim’s aid, preventing the suspect from fleeing until the police arrived. Once the suspect was apprehended, a body search yielded a number of packets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride—colloquially known as “shabu,”—a .30-caliber revolver lacking a serial number, and two bullets, among other items.

In a report by the Ecoland Police Station, police response came at around 1:08 a.m. at the University Avenue, corner 1st Avenue, Juna Subdivision after receiving a call from their mobile patrol unit.

The suspect is currently under the custody of the police. Meanwhile, authorities are preparing to file multiple charges against him, namely a robbery case, and two others over the violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act 2002 and RA No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
