The heat index in Iba, Zambales reached 53°C, categorized as "extreme danger" level by the state weather bureau PAGASA, on Sunday, April 28.

Based on PAGASA's latest five-day computed heat index, the heat index in Iba, Zambales rose to 53°C on Sunday from the 42°C record on Saturday, April 27.

Under the heat index of 53°C and beyond, the state weather bureau warned that heat stroke is imminent.

Trailing behind Iba, Zambales was CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur which had experienced a 49°C heat index or "danger" level, meaning heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely to be experienced.

Six areas reached 46°C and these are:

1. Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
2. Aparri, Cagayan
3. Baler (Radar), Aurora
4. Infanta, Quezon
5. Coron, Palawan
6. Aborlan, Palawan

Meanwhile, the heat index in the following areas hit 45°C to 42°C:

1. Bacnotan La Union - 45°C
2. Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - 45°C
3. ISU Echague, Isabela - 45°C
4. Clark Aiport, (DMIA), Pampanga - 45°C
5. Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas - 45°C
6. Virac (Synop), Catanduanes - 45°C
7. Dumangas, Iloilo - 45°C
8. Sangley Point, Cavite - 44°C
9. San Jose, Occidental Mindoro - 44°C
