Former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque released a video statement on Facebook disputing reports that former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Elizaldy “Zaldy” Co was arrested in Prague, calling the claim “fake news” allegedly spread by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Roque said he personally contacted immigration authorities in Prague and was told that Co was not in custody. “Tinawagan ko yung immigration police sa Prague… wala,” he said, insisting there was no confirmation of an arrest. He criticized the President for announcing the alleged arrest, questioning its basis and timing. Roque also alleged that Co is a key witness in corruption-related allegations involving infrastructure and flood control projects, though he did not present independent evidence to support these claims in the video. In his statement, Roque further accused the administration of attempting to discredit Co, saying there is urgency to locate him due to his supposed testimony in ongoing corruption allegations. “Kung wala si Zaldy Co, hindi mabubuo ang kwento,” he said. Roque ended his remarks by reiterating his claim that the arrest report was false and urged the public to verify information before accepting official announcements. As of writing, Malacañang has not issued a response to Roque’s allegations, and there is no independent confirmation of his claims regarding Co’s status in Prague.
