The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring rains to parts of Luzon over the next three to five days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday, Aug. 12.

In a DZRH's Magandang Umaga Pilipinas interview, PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Benguet, Abra, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Palawan, Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro.

Meanwhile, PAGASA is also monitoring a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The tropical depression was last located about 1,980 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 km per hour near the center and gusts of up to 70 km/h.

PAGASA said the tropical depression has a low chance of entering the PAR and affecting the country as it is expected to move away from the Philippines.

For the rest of the country, generally fair and warm weather is expected, although isolated rain showers may still occur due to thunderstorms.
