The southwest monsoon, or habagat, will continue to bring monsoon rains over parts of Luzon and the Visayas on Tuesday, September 8, according to the state weather bureau.
In its 5 a.m. weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon would continue to bring heavy rains over western parts of Central and Southern Luzon.
PAGASA also said it is not monitoring any low-pressure area or tropical cyclone inside or near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
However, PAGASA said the possibility of a low-pressure area developing in the coming days cannot be ruled out, prompting the weather bureau to continue monitoring weather disturbances.
Monsoon rains, characterized by nearly continuous moderate to heavy rainfall, are expected over Zambales and Bataan on Tuesday.
Occasional rains are forecast over Pangasinan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers, thunderstorms, and lightning.
PAGASA said the southwest monsoon could continue affecting large parts of Luzon in the coming days, although the areas affected by habagat may become more limited by Saturday.
In the Visayas, rainy conditions are expected to persist over Western Visayas, while the rest of the region and Mindanao may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of thunderstorms.
Areas not directly affected by the southwest monsoon may still experience hot and humid weather, with thunderstorms possible in the afternoon.
For rainfall forecasts, PAGASA said 100 to 200 millimeters of rain may fall over Bataan and Zambales on Tuesday, while 50 to 100 millimeters is possible over Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.
By Wednesday, 50 to 100 millimeters of rain is forecast over Ilocos Sur, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, Bataan, Isabela, Aurora, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.
On Thursday, Occidental Mindoro could receive 100 to 200 millimeters of rain.
Meanwhile, 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall may be recorded in La Union, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Aklan, Antique, and Palawan.
PAGASA said there is currently no gale warning in effect over any coastal waters in the country.
