The southwest monsoon or 'habagat,' will continue to bring scattered rains over parts of Luzon, Visayas on Monday, July 13, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 4 a.m. weather advisory, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over the following areas due to the southwest monsoon:
- Metro Manila
- Ilocos Region
- Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)
- Zambales
- Bataan
- Tarlac
- Pampanga
- Bulacan
- Cavite
- Laguna
- Batangas
- Rizal
- Occidental Mindoro
- Oriental Mindoro
- Palawan
The weather bureau warned residents in these areas of possible flash floods and landslides during periods of moderate to heavy rainfall.
The rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also due to the southwest monsoon.
Meanwhile, the Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
The low-pressure area (LPA) was spotted approximately 1,800 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. PAGASA said the weather system has a small chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours and is also unlikely to enter the PAR.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said no gale warning has been raised over any of the country's seaboards, allowing fishing vessels and other small sea craft to continue normal operations, while still exercising caution during thunderstorms.
