The southwest monsoon or Habagat will continue to bring rains over parts of the country on Thursday, July 2, while Tropical Depression "Henry" is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) later today or early Friday, according to PAGASA.
In its 5:00 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Palawan and Occidental Mindoro will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
Meanwhile, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, and Antique will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also caused by the southwest monsoon.
As of 3:00 a.m., Tropical Depression "Henry" was located 610 kilometers west of Bacnotan, La Union, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 70 kph, while moving west-northwestward at 25 kph.
PAGASA said "Henry" is forecast to continue moving away from the Philippine landmass and is expected to exit the PAR by Thursday evening or early Friday morning.
The weather disturbance may also intensify into a tropical storm by Thursday afternoon as it traverses the West Philippine Sea.
The state weather bureau warned that heavy rainfall and strong winds may still affect areas outside the forecast confidence cone
PAGASA advised the public and local disaster risk reduction and management offices to remain vigilant, take necessary precautions to protect life and property, and monitor the latest weather bulletins and rainfall advisories.
