The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will continue to affect Luzon and the western section of Visayas on Friday, August 14, bringing rains and thunderstorms over several areas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Based on PAGASA’s 4 a.m. weather bulletin, Zambales and Bataan will experience occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, the rest of Central Luzon, and Antique will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms also caused by the Habagat.
The rest of Luzon, Aklan, and Capiz are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
For the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are forecast due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA is also monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
As of 2 a.m., the LPA was located approximately 1,950 kilometers east of Eastern Northern Luzon.
PAGASA said the weather disturbance has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
The state weather bureau continues to monitor the LPA and will provide updates as necessary.
