Members of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), Pamalakaya, and Anakpawis staged a protest outside the Senate on Friday, November 14, as the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee resumed its hearing on the multibillion-peso flood control scandal.
According to RH Jecelle Ricafort's report, the groups demanded accountability for what they described as "massive corruption" in flood control projects, calling for justice “for every peso stolen from the Filipino people” and the imprisonment of all government officials and contractors involved.
Meanwhile, KMP Chairperson Danilo Ramos said Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa should not use his position in the Senate as protection amid growing scrutiny.
“[Sen.
He added that both Dela Rosa and former President Rodrigo Duterte should be detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC) to face accountability for the thousands of deaths linked to the war on drugs.
It will be recalled that Ombudsman Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla previously said he had obtained an unofficial copy of an ICC arrest warrant against Dela Rosa.
The government is reportedly considering two possible options should the tribunal issue an official warrant: extradition or voluntary surrender.
