The construction of a state-of-the-art five-story Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) College of Allied Health Sciences Building officially began on Friday, a milestone project reflecting strong collaboration between the Manila City Government and the national government.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held within the PLM campus, was attended by Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., PLM officials and staff, heads of city departments, and other government representatives.
Mayor Isko expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Marcos for his ongoing support, emphasizing that the project would enhance both education and healthcare services. “We will match your swift action in healthcare initiatives with dedication and speed here in Manila. Your support will not go to waste,” said the mayor, assuring that the city will deliver the project on schedule.
The new facility is designed to expand hospital-based training and produce a larger pool of health professionals, serving not only Manila but communities nationwide. It is expected to strengthen nation-building efforts by addressing the growing demand for skilled doctors, nurses, and allied health workers in both public and private healthcare sectors.
City officials noted that the building will include modern classrooms, simulation laboratories, and clinical training spaces, aligning with national goals to improve healthcare education and accessibility. Mayor Isko also highlighted the city’s proven track record in completing major infrastructure projects on time, citing previous developments such as the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila, school buildings, and the Manila Zoo rehabilitation.
“The PLM College of Allied Health Sciences Building represents more than bricks and mortar—it is an investment in the next generation of Filipino healthcare professionals who will serve the nation,” the mayor said.
