Asian Beach Games champion Leonard Grospe from Mapua University broke the Philippine national high jump record (pending ratification) after clearing 2.22 meters in the NCAA Season 101 Athletics Competition on Thursday at the New Clark City Stadium.
The mark surpassed his previous national record of 2.21m set on June 14, 2024, and also established a new NCAA record in the event.
Grospe, who previously captured gold at the Asian Beach Games, continued his strong form on the collegiate stage, delivering a standout performance for Mapua.
Coach Sean Guevarra lauded the achievement, which further cements Grospe’s status among the country’s top high jumpers as he continues to raise the national standard in the event.
