The Kings confirmed that Alapag, a former player and coach of the Philippine national men's basketball team, will be joining the team as an assistant coach for the 2021 NBA Summer League.
"Playing professionally for 13 years, Alapag has racked up career highlights as a 6x PBA champion, an 11x PBA All-Star, and holds 2nd place in most 3PT FG’s made," Sacramento said in a series of Twitter posts.
"He is currently making a run to enter the NBA as an assistant coach, with an opportunity this summer to be Assistant coach for the Kings Summer League team," the team added.
Alapag had an earlier stint as an assistant coach of the Kings in the 2019 NBA Summer League.
In a Instagram post on Wednesday, August 11, Alapag expressed his gratitude to the Kings, and vowed to represent the Philippines proudly during his stint with the NBA team.
