

A 15-year-old Grade 10 student was found in possession of a firearm inside a school in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, authorities said.
School officials discovered a caliber .38 revolver inside the student’s bag and immediately reported the incident to the police.
The minor is now undergoing a Child-Sensitive Intervention Process and has been turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for proper handling.
Meanwhile, the recovered firearm and six rounds of ammunition are now in the custody of the Barotac Nuevo Municipal Police Station for investigation and appropriate legal proceedings.
The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) emphasized that the incident highlights the continued cooperation among schools, the Philippine National Police, and the Department of Education in strengthening campus safety through prompt reporting, close coordination, and effective communication on security-related concerns.
